Monolithic Silica Kit

1.General Description

  Lubisol Si-Seal-FS is a monolithic fused-silica castable material, suitable for various applications. It is supplied as a dry mix packed in 25 kg paper bags and a liquid chemical bond, packed in 13 kg plastic containers. They are mixed in a mortar mixer just before use in the following proportion (weight %): dry powder – 85 : liquid bond -15. Some water is added to obtain the desired fluidity of the mix.

The most important features of LUBISOL Si-Seal are:

• High mechanical strength;

• Very low coefficient of thermal expansion making this material resistant to thermal shoks;

• Very high corrosion resistance against the action of alkalies and other fluxes.

2. Way of Application

  Lubisol Si-Seal-FS is applied as a sealing layer by patching over Coke Oven silica doors. It is also applied as a castable material in metal or wooden moulds to produce suspended blocks suitable for hot repair of glass furnace silica crowns or other shapes for industrial furnaces.

  Lubisol Si-Seal-FS is a heat setting composition, and it is converted into a hard body under the action of the heat of the industrial furnace. It is suitable for cold or hot application.

  An Application Technology is delivered by the supplier, together with the material.
