DATA SHEET: LUBISOL #3 – Cover Coat Cement / Capping Cement

Lubisol-#3 Cover Coat Cement (Capping Cement) is a dry mixture of different silicate refractory components and it is supplied in 25-kg paper bags. A liquid bond “Lubisol LFS” – Ceramic Adhesive, is supplied separately packed in 13-kg plastic containers. The dry powder and the liquid bond are mixed together in a mortar mixer before the application in a ratio of 85:15 weight %. For the convenience of the users, they can mix 3 bags of dry powder with 1 plastic container of Lubisol LFS bond. At the end of the mixing it is necessary to add a small amount of water (about 3 %) to obtain the desired fluidity of the mix.

Lubisol #3 Cover Coat is a heat setting composition and it becomes hard after being dried for 3-4 hours at a temperature above 100 ° C.

The wet mix of dry powder and liquid chemical bond starts to harder at room temperature after 2-3 hours.

The two components packed separately have a very long shelf life – more than 5 years. They can be stored in any warehouse, without any special requirements for temperature or humidity.

The application of the Lubisol #3 Cover Coat Cement is done by trawling on a cold or hot surface. It can be applied as a top layer of the insulation of glass furnace crowns, or as a sealing layer on the vertical walls.

Properties of the Cover Coat on a silica crown

The color of the Cover Coat becomes dark at higher temperatures indicating for local over-heating in the crown.

Safety Data Sheet

The Liquid Bond Lubisol LFS contains a diluted mineral acid - H3PO4. Safety measures should be taken to protect the eyes and hands of the workers from the action of this acid. They must be wearing protective goggles and gloves. The acid is easily soluble in water. If needed for any reasons, the skin and eyes should be washed with clean water.
